8.2.1. Absorption of force of blow

Fig. 8.1. Udaropogloshchayushchy design of a body of the Camry car

The Udaropogloshchayushchy design of a body of the new Camry car (fig. 8.1) helps to absorb effectively energy of blow in case of front (fig. 8.2) or side collisions. Protection of passengers is carried out at the expense of amplifiers and elements which help to minimize deformation of salon. Forward longerons in a zone of deformation are connected to sheet metal of various thickness for effective absorption of energy of blow at head-on collision.

Fig. 8.3. The scheme of distribution of loading at side blow

Energy of blow of side crash (fig. 8.3) sent to the salon area is distributed on a body through amplifiers of racks, side shock-proof bars, floor cross-pieces, thus helping to reduce the energy of blow directed to salon. At the same time, if the passenger's head at collision hits against a sidewall of a roof and a rack, the internal panel of a roof and rack collapses to soften blow.
