Fig. 6.67. Measurement of thickness of overlays of brake shoes

Measure thickness of overlays of brake shoes (fig. 6.67).
Standard thickness: 2,0 mm
Minimum admissible: 1,0 mm
If thickness of slips is less minimum or they have uneven wear, replace brake shoes.

NOTE
If at least one brake shoe demands replacement, it is necessary to replace all set.

Fig. 6.68. Check of density of a prileganiye of brake shoes to the brake drum

Check density of a prileganiye of an overlay of a brake shoe to a drum (fig. 6.68).
If contact between working surfaces bad, or make grinding of slips, or replace brake shoes.

Fig. 6.69. Measurement of a gap between a brake shoe and the lever of the parking brake

Using the probe, measure a gap between a brake shoe and the lever of the parking brake (fig. 6.69).
The most admissible gap: 0,35 mm.
If the gap does not correspond to specifications, pick up an adjusting washer of the necessary thickness, being guided by data in the table.
