2.4.5.11. Check of an oil gap in camshaft bearings

Fig. 2.284. Laying of plastic caliber on each neck of the camshaft: 1 – plastic caliber

Clear the working surfaces of necks of the camshaft and covers of bearings. Lay camshafts in a bed of a head of the block of cylinders. Put on a piece of plastic caliber on each neck of the camshaft (fig. 2.284).
Establish covers of bearings. Tighten bolts of covers the moment of an inhaling of 16 N · m.

Fig. 2.285. The flattened plastic caliber

Measure width of the flattened plastic calibers in the widest part and define a gap (fig. 2.285).
The radial gap in bearings of camshafts is given below.
Standard:
inlet – 0,035–0,072 mm;
final – 0,025–0,062 mm.
The most admissible:
inlet – 0,10 mm;
final – 0,09 mm.
If the gap is more than most admissible, replace the camshaft. If necessary replace covers of bearings and a head of the block of cylinders.
