2.4.2.5. Adjustment of thermal gaps in valves

If it is necessary, adjust a thermal gap in valves.
For this purpose remove an adjusting washer.

Fig. 2.227. Correct arrangement of a pusher of the valve

Turn the camshaft so that the top of a cam was directed up. Arrange a valve pusher, as shown in the figure 2.227.

NOTE
Use the special tool 09248-05410 (A) and 09248-05420 (B).

Fig. 2.228. Use of special tools at a reulirovka of thermal gaps in valves

Using the special tool (A), press a pusher and place the special tool (V) between the camshaft and a pusher. Remove the special tool (A). Insert the special tool (V) at a small angle and you watch that markings on the special tool settled down, as shown in the figure 2.228.
If the special tool (V) is inserted too deeply, the adjusting washer can jam it. For prevention of it insert it from inlet valves at a small angle.

Fig. 2.229. Removal of an adjusting washer: 1 – special tool (B); 2 – magnetic core

Remove an adjusting washer by means of the small screw-driver and a magnetic core (fig. 2.229).

Fig. 2.230. Measurement of thickness of an adjusting washer

Using a micrometer, measure thickness of the removed adjusting washer and determine the size of a new adjusting washer (fig. 2.230).
Calculate thickness of a new adjusting washer so that the thermal gap in valves was in limits of the specified values:
thickness of the removed adjusting washer – T;
the measured thermal gap valves – And;
thickness of a new adjusting washer – N.
11MZ-FE:
inlet – N = T + (And – 0,2 mm);
final – N = T + (And – 0,3 mm).
Pick up a new adjusting washer with thickness makimalno brought closer to a calculated value.

Fig. 2.231. Installation of an adjusting washer

Establish a new adjusting washer in a pusher so that the beaten-out number on a washer was turned down. Using the special tool (A), press a pusher and remove the special tool (V) (fig. 2.231).

Fig. 2.232. Places of putting sealant

Double-check a gap in the drive of valves. Remove old sealing material and apply sealant on a head of the block of cylinders, in the places shown in the figure 2.232.
Establish covers of heads of the block of cylinders.
Establish and wrap spark plugs.
Install ignition coils.
Establish the top part of an inlet collector assembled.
Establish a protective cover.
