2.3.4.5. Thermostat

The thermostat is installed on an entrance branch pipe of a contour of cooling. It regulates circulation of cooling liquid. At a temperature of cooling liquid less than 80-84 °C the valve of the thermostat is closed and cooling liquid circulates on a small contour of the cooling system (without passing through a radiator) that promotes acceleration of process of warming up of the engine. When temperature of cooling liquid increases, the valve of the thermostat opens that allows cooling liquid to circulate on a big contour of the cooling system (through a radiator). In these models of engines the thermostat begins to open at a temperature of cooling liquid of 80-84 °C and opens completely at a temperature about 95 °C.
