2.2.7.8. Check of a gap in the lock of a piston finger

Fig. 2.111. Pushing through of a ring of the piston: 1 – piston ring

To check a gap in the lock of a piston ring, install a ring in the block cylinder. The piston push a ring from the surface of the block of cylinders, as shown in the figure 2.111.

Fig. 2.112. Measurement of a gap in the lock

Measure by the flat probe a gap in the lock (fig. 2.112).
If the gap in the lock is more than maximum, replace a piston ring. If the gap in the lock is more maximum even with a new piston ring, replace the block of cylinders.
Nominal gap:
compression ring No. 1 –
1AZ-FE – 0,30–0,40 mm;
2AZ-FE – 0,22–0,32 mm;
compression ring No. 2 –
1AZ-FE – 0,47–0,62 mm;
2AZ-FE – 0,50–0,60 mm;
oil scraper ring –
1AZ-FE – 0,10–0,35 mm;
2AZ-FE – 0,10–0,35 mm.
Limit gap:
compression ring No. 1 –
1AZ-FE – 0,89 mm;
2AZ-FE – 0,89 mm;
compression ring No. 2 –
1AZ-FE – 1,37 mm;
2AZ-FE – 1,37 mm;
oil scraper ring –
1AZ-FE – 0,73 mm;
2AZ-FE – 0,73 mm.
