1. Prepare the vehicle as follows:

– place the vehicle in such room where it is rather dark in order that it was possible to observe border of light spots of headlights clearly. The border of light spots of headlights represents the distinct line below which light spots from light of headlights are observed, and above – are absent (fig. 1.56);

– set the vehicle at an angle 90 °к to a wall;

– the distance from the vehicle to a wall has to make 25 m (from the center of a lamp of a headlight);

– place the vehicle on a horizontal surface;

– rock the vehicle up and down that suspension brackets were established.

ATTENTION The distance of 25 m between the vehicle (from the center of a lamp of a headlight) and a wall is necessary for appropriate regulation of the direction of light bunches of headlights. If there is no such opportunity, provide distance precisely of 3 m for check and adjustment. (The zone of light spots of headlights changes with change of distance therefore it is necessary to follow instructions in the figure 1.56)

1. Prepare the sheet of thick white paper (about 2 m (height) x 4 m (width)) to use it as the screen.

2. Draw on the center of the screen the vertical line (line V).

3. Install the screen, as shown in the figure 1.57.

4. Draw on the screen basic lines (the Left line H, V, the V Right), as shown in the figure 1.58.

Basic lines for "check of passing beam" and "check of driving beam" differ.

Note the centers of lamps of headlights on the screen. If position of the centers of lamps does not manage to be determined by tags on a headlight, be guided on the centers of lamps of a headlight or the name of the manufacturer put on a headlight.

1. Line H (headlight height):

Draw across the screen the horizontal line so that it passed through the put tags of the centers of lamps. The line H has to pass at the same height at which there are tags of the centers of lamps of passing beam.

2. Left line V, the V Right (tags of the centers of left (LH) and right (RH) of lamps): draw two vertical lines so that they crossed the line H in points where tags of the centers of lamps of passing beam are put.
